About Lake Levels Daily

Lake Levels Daily is an independent site that reads the official gauges of 138 US lakes and reservoirs every day and keeps their history. Each lake page answers three questions first: the level today, how far it is from full pool, and whether it is rising or falling. Then it compares today with the same day in past years.

The numbers come from public agencies: the Texas Water Development Board, the US Geological Survey, the US Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA and the National Weather Service. Every number on the site shows its source and the date or time of the reading.

What it is not

It is not an official website and it is not affiliated with any agency or lake operator. It does not replace flood warnings from the National Weather Service or notices from the lake operator. Check official sources before making safety decisions.

Editorial policy

We publish the numbers the agencies publish and do not edit them. Every figure on a lake page is either a reading from the source or a calculation from those readings: changes over 24 hours, 7 and 30 days, the same day in past years, records and percent full. Sentences on lake pages are written from that data. How each number is built is explained in How we measure.

A lake is only published when its gauge has reported in the last 48 hours, its history covers at least a year, and its facts (full pool, dam, river) come from an official source. Readings marked “Provisional” can still be revised by the agency.

Spotted a wrong number?

Tell us the lake and the date on the contact page and we will check it against the official gauge. Corrections are made within a day and, when the agency revises its data, the history updates with it.
